I love packet tricks! This one is my favorite of the month. It comes with the necessary cards and a dvd (which you can use in your computer to print out written instructions if so desired). Here's the basic effect in my own words: show the spectators a packet of cards--they can see that they are all aces with red backs without you bringing much attention to that fact. On the table, you place the aces face up, face down, face up, and face down, and you are left holding some more aces in your hand. For my presentation, I talk about drills that I perform to practice my sleight of hand, my misdirection skills, and my cheating skills. Pick up the first face down ace from the table, place it on the packet of face-up aces in your hand, and show that they all turn face down. Take the next face up ace from the table, place it on top of the face down aces and show that they all turn face up. Do this a few more times, each time placing the top card of the packet on the table (so you have a row of face up aces and a row of face down aces). For the climax, you tell them that they watched you practice your sleight of hand, but they probably didn't catch the misdirection part--that's when you turn over the four face up aces to show that they have four different backs. Then tell them that you have to make money somehow, and that's where the cheating comes in--turn over the five face down cards to show a royal flush in spades.
I highly recommend this one! _________________ Tricks become Magic through powerful presentation. -Larry Hass |
