"The Magic of Ascanio: Studies of Card Magic" by Etcheverry. This is the second of four volumes and contains many of Ascanios pet effects and opens with a very in-depth study of the famed "Ascanio Spread". There were more variations of it than I care to know, but it was neat to see the thinking behind all of them. There is a lot of great theory sprinkled throughout the text with some great effects as well. I will admit that some of the items were beyond my skill level at this point, but there were several items that were very "doable". There are plenty of illustrations to accompany the text and the descriptions are very detailed (sometimes maybe too detailed, but the author says there is a reason for every little nuance).
After reading this book, I'm inclined to find the first volume, which is mainly theory, concept, and ideas on magic. -J.R. _________________ Tricks become Magic through powerful presentation. -Larry Hass |
